Ticks, fleas, and mosquitoes are transmitters for many diseases for your pets. They can spread heartworms, tapeworms, and Lyme disease. In these cases the best way to keep your pet healthy is to help them fight off the parasites. We have a few different choices for prevention. Some come in a topical form while others are in a tablet form.

Sentinel

This once-a-month tablet is given to prevent Heartworm infection. It also has an added bonus as flea prevention. Sentinel prevents an infestation of fleas in your home by making any flea that comes in contact with your pet sterile.

Interceptor

This is made by the same company as Sentinel. It is also a once-a-month tablet for the prevention of heartworms. However it doesn’t contain the ingredient for flea prevention.

Vectra

For flea prevention this is our topical choice. It is a liquid that you apply directly to your dog’s skin. It is designed to prevent fleas and ticks. It is safe to use this product with both Sentinel and Interceptor.

Comfortis

However if you would prefer a tablet to topical flea treatment there is Comfortis. It is a once-a-month tablet for flea prevention only. If you are in an area with a tick threat, we would still recommend that you use Vectra.

Revolution for Cats

For your cat’s health and safety we recommend that ALL cats use Revolution. Revolution is a topical once-a-month prevention that Kills adult, prevents flea eggs from hatching, and controls ear mites, roundworms and hookworms. Indoor cats are still at risk for disease because of open windows and doors, potted plants, and humans or other pets that leave the house.
